Twitter Rolls Out Advanced DM Keyword Search (And why it is essential for you)
Google today made an official announcement about opening the first product development center in Africa. This project is part of a billion-shilling pledge made in October 2021. It’s believed that this center will positively impact and revolutionize the digital transformation in Africa.
Once launched, Google will use the center to create revolutionary services and products for Africans and other parts of the world. The one-of-a-kind project will open life-changing job opportunities for researchers, UX designers, product managers, and innovative engineers.

Google mentioned in an official statement that to help achieve the company’s mission and vision, it’ll hire product managers, visionary designers, and researchers to enable a foundation for growth in the next few years.
Sundai Pichai, CEO of Google, also mentioned that the company would invest at least $1 billion (100 billion) in the Africa’s digital transformation in the next five years. This amount is intended to cover a vast range of projects, from startup financing to enhanced connectivity.
This announcement is part of the plan to enable Africa’s digital transformation in four main areas, such as building products for all Africans, enabling affordable access, and helping companies with digital transformation.
Google’s statement came a few weeks after Microsoft issued a similar notice that it intends to open a $3 billion engineering hub in Kenya at Dunhill Towers located in Westlands, Nairobi. The project commenced on March 25, 2022 aimed at developing African tech talent.
Kenya’s president, Uhuru Kenyatta, announced the establishment of the African Development Center, also known as ADC. According to the president, the center will help the government realize its key objective of ensuring high-tech opportunities.
These projects are set to look for, create, and absorb brilliant individuals who can use technology to solve the current problems facing various sectors digitally. For instance, they’ll take part in enhancing the smartphone experience across the continent and create a reliable internet infrastructure.
The new development dwells on building for Africa and other parts of the world. Google’s main mission in Africa is to make the internet as helpful as possible. It also wants to partner with various African governments, entrepreneurs, educators, and businesses to shape the continent’s future.
