WhatsApp has developed new methods to make your communication experience more exciting when responding to group or personal texts. The Reactions section under each text has been extended, and you can react with any emoji you wish from your keyboard selection.
Users had limited choice of emojis when WhatsApp launched the group message reactions in May, but there have been more developments to this feature after the initial success. It has managed to bring the features into the chat box with individual constants instead of limiting the emoji reactions only to chats occurring within groups.
Despite appearing like they copied other apps, WhatsApp understands the rising need to use Reactions in conversations. They have gradually turned into the communication mode of choice as a way to spice up the chat, emphasize more on the written message or show one’s feelings towards it. The Reaction emojis have sparked more interactions and reactions to conversations, pictures, videos and other resources shared through WhatsApp.
After opting to react to a message, users are issued a list of common emojis and a “+” sign at the end. You can tap on the + for a more detailed display that looks like the emoji keyboard display, from which you will choose the suitable reaction for the particular text.
While this update by WhatsApp may seem relatively small, it is a considerable tool to make conversations more interesting and engaging. Users have taken it positively, and more people are reacting to messages in response or agreeing to the emotions the texts arouse in them. It is also a creative way of making interactions less boring or monotonous.
If you are in business and use WhatsApp to interact with your customers, you can get their feedback by encouraging them to use emoji reactions instead of typing texts. For example, you can make a list of reactions and what they symbolize as feedback.
Earlier this year, Mark Zuckerberg highlighted that plans were underway to enable users to react using emojis under chats, saying, “We’re rolling out the ability to use any emoji as a reaction on WhatsApp.”
This addition is among the recent modifications of the app after July’s big announcement that users can now selectively hide their profile pictures and last-seen status from certain contacts in their list. WhatsApp also enabled chat transfers from Android to iPhone, where you can export videos, photos and chat history, among other resources, between the two device models.
How to Select Reaction Emojis
The steps followed to react to messages, videos, audio, and pictures depending on the type of WhatsApp you’re operating. The process may differ for WhatsApp web, Windows, macOS, iOS and Android apps.
To send a reaction when using Web, Windows and macOS;
- Roll the cursor to the top of the message and press the drop icon that offers a menu prompting further actions you can take.
- Tap the “React to message” prompt, displaying the first six emoji suggestions.
- If you wish to send a different reaction than the displayed emojis, press the + sign and choose from the larger display.
When reacting on iOS or Android;
- Press the message and hold until the six default emojis pop up.
- Choose the one you wish to use, or proceed to pick the others which pop up on your screen after pressing the + sign at the end of the first pop-up.
When reacting to a group message, the sender will get a notification of the reaction. The other contacts in the group will be able to view the outlined emojis from all the users who reacted. You can only send one emoji reaction for each message, but you have the option to change to a different one even if the initial choice has already appeared under the message.
